Oba Femi-Rusev Feud Teased on RAW – The February 16 episode of RAW continued building momentum toward Elimination Chamber with qualifying matches and several key appearances. A brief backstage segment, however, may have quietly introduced a major future storyline involving Oba Femi.
The former two-time NXT Champion has gained attention since arriving on the main roster earlier this year. After his run in NXT, Femi has been positioned as a dominant free agent and a potential long-term player. Earlier this month, he made an impact on RAW by overpowering The War Raiders on his own, reinforcing the company’s plans to present him as a serious threat.
A backstage segment on Monday followed the Women’s Elimination Chamber Triple Threat involving Natalya, Asuka, and Bayley. After the match, RAW General Manager Adam Pearce met with Femi and formally offered him a contract for the brand. Pearce told him to take his time and consider his options, including the possibility of signing with SmackDown, while stressing the value of his offer.
The moment suggested that WWE views Femi as a priority addition. As the conversation ended, the segment shifted direction when Femi encountered Rusev backstage. The two shared a tense staredown that lasted several seconds. No words were exchanged, but the confrontation hinted at a possible rivalry.
Femi’s rise has been steady. During this year’s Royal Rumble, he entered at No. 1, lasted more than 40 minutes, and eliminated five competitors. His accomplishments in NXT include becoming the longest-reigning North American Champion and winning the NXT Championship twice.
Rusev brings experience and credibility as a former United States Champion with a physical in-ring style. A program between the two would position Femi against an established main roster name and could serve as his first major singles feud since his call-up.
While nothing has been officially announced, the backstage exchange suggested WWE may already be laying the groundwork for the next step in Femi’s rise.
