During the opening segment of Thursday night’s episode of TNA Impact, Matt Hardy addressed the ongoing issues between himself, Jeff Hardy, and The Righteous. Vincent and Dutch have spent weeks attempting to get inside the heads of the reigning TNA World Tag Team Champions through mind games and psychological tactics. Matt Hardy confronted the duo directly and initially pushed for a match to take place that same night in El Paso. Vincent, however, rejected the idea, insisting that their confrontation deserved a bigger stage. It was then agreed that Matt and Jeff Hardy would defend their titles against Vincent and Dutch at Genesis.
As the show continued, TNA confirmed two more bouts for the event. TNA Knockouts World Champion Lei Ying Lee will put her title on the line against Dani Luna. Luna has steadily built momentum in the Knockouts division, earning this opportunity with recent performances that caught the attention of management. This matchup adds another high-stakes championship contest to the Genesis card.
Additionally, AJ Francis versus Rich Swann was officially announced.
