Jake Doyle and Mark Davis Earn AEW Tag Title Shot – Jake Doyle and Mark Davis of the Don Callis Family made an immediate impact in their first outing as a team on AEW Dynamite on January 14, winning a four‑way tornado tag match to become the new number one contenders for FTR’s AEW World Tag Team Championships. The duo outlasted JetSpeed, the Young Bucks, and the Gates of Agony to secure a future showdown with Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler.
The match opened with Matt and Nick Jackson teaming up with “Speedball” Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight to neutralize the powerhouse teams. They traded off strikes on Davis and Doyle in the corner and connected with double superkicks, though the Callis Family members avoided a pair of BTE Triggers.
Momentum shifted when Toa Liona launched himself off the apron with a moonsault, wiping out nearly everyone on the floor. After the commercial break, the Young Bucks and JetSpeed regained control, clearing out the heels until they were forced to square off with each other. The Gates of Agony nearly stole the win when Liona stacked both Bucks on his shoulders, but Bailey broke it up with a 450 splash combined with double knees.
The Bucks later appeared to have the match won after hitting a BTE Trigger on Knight, but Ricochet yanked the referee out of the ring. Before Ricochet could capitalize, Jack Perry blindsided him out of nowhere. The chaos opened the door for the finish, as Davis planted Knight with a piledriver to score the victory.
After the bell, FTR confronted Doyle and Davis, leading to a heated brawl that required security to separate the teams.
Doyle, formerly known as Jake Something, debuted on Dynamite just last week after signing with AEW. Davis, a former ROH Tag Team Champion, now finds himself closer than ever to his first AEW title. Meanwhile, FTR continue their third reign with the AEW World Tag Team Titles, having won them from Bandido at Full Gear and successfully defended them twice against the Bang Bang Gang.
