Powerhouse Hobbs Expected to Sign with WWE

Powerhouse Hobbs Expected to Sign with WWE – Powerhouse Hobbs may have competed in his final AEW match, as his contract is set to expire at midnight. According to a report from Fightful Select, AEW made a major effort to keep him, but multiple sources now believe Hobbs is on track to sign with WWE as early as this week.

Hobbs reportedly wrapped up his commitments during tonight’s AEW Collision tapings following Dynamite, quietly closing what could be his last appearance for the company. Negotiations between AEW and Hobbs have been ongoing for months, and while AEW’s offer was described as “huge,” Hobbs ultimately chose to test free agency — a move WWE has been anticipating.

The report notes that “WWE sources believe he is headed there, barring some huge unforeseen change,” adding that WWE’s interest in Hobbs dates back years, including during Dan Ventrelle’s time overseeing talent relations.

Although speculation about Hobbs leaving AEW has circulated for some time, there had been no communication between Hobbs and WWE until recently. Once his AEW contract approached its expiration, that window opened quickly, and the path toward a WWE debut now appears clear.

Despite his departure, Hobbs is said to be leaving AEW on positive terms, with no issues between the two sides. As a key member of the Don Callis Family and a former TNT Champion, Hobbs had become a major presence on AEW programming. Still, the appeal of WWE — and the chance to begin a new chapter on a larger platform — seems to have tipped the scales.
