Tony Khan Addresses ROH Media Rights, Talent Updates, and Final Battle Plans – Tony Khan fielded numerous questions during Thursday’s ROH Final Battle media call, offering updates on Ring of Honor, AEW, and several wrestlers heading into this weekend’s pay-per-view.
Khan confirmed that there is currently no new Ring of Honor television deal, but emphasized that this is by choice rather than a lack of interest. He revealed that he has turned down multiple offers from what he described as “great” media partners. According to Khan, AEW’s “half-billion-dollar” media rights agreement remains the company’s primary focus, and any ROH deal would need to be the perfect fit—not necessarily equal in value, but strategically sound for long-term growth. While he acknowledged genuine interest from networks, he declined to disclose which ones.
Regarding the ROH Women’s Pure Title Tournament, Khan announced that Queen Aminata was not medically cleared for her semifinal match on Wednesday. As a result, she was forced to forfeit, allowing Deonna Purrazzo to advance to the finals at Final Battle.
Khan also provided a health update on Nick Wayne, noting that Wayne’s recovery from a broken foot has taken longer than expected. He stressed that the delay is not Wayne’s fault and said he expects the young star back “soon.”
When asked whether Zayda Steel has officially signed with AEW or ROH, Khan encouraged fans to “stay tuned,” adding that she may compete against Leila Grey at Final Battle—a clear hint that her involvement with the company is increasing.
Khan addressed several other topics during the call:
• On Mercedes Moné, Khan said he hopes she will appear more frequently in ROH and referred to her as a “free agent” the company brought in for select appearances.
• Asked about securing Jack Harlow’s ‘Lovin’ on Me’ for Blake Christian’s entrance music, he joked that he currently has “1% approval,” and if he can convince the remaining 99% of rights holders, he’ll move forward.
• Khan praised Ring of Honor’s output in 2024, calling it the “most complete” year of television and streaming specials since acquiring the promotion.
