Kyle Fletcher Embraces the Grind Ahead of AEW Dynamite Continental Classic Match – Kyle Fletcher is soaking in every moment of his recent success, even if the grind has left him exhausted. Fletcher, who is 1-0 in the Continental Classic after defeating Kazuchika Okada last week, is set to face Kevin Knight on Dynamite Wednesday night.
In a candid interview with Zach Johnson, Fletcher opened up about the challenges of his current schedule. “I don’t have time for other things. I go home and all I want to do is lay on the couch because I’m exhausted,” he said. “I’ve been traveling. I’ve been wrestling. I have no sleep. I’ve been eating terribly because there’s nothing to eat after I finish wrestling. So, it’s all these things and it’s all very hard and it becomes very overwhelming when you think about all the pressure that it brings as well as that.”
Despite the difficulties, Fletcher emphasized that the effort is worth it. “But all that is to say, I am living my dream right now. I would not have it any other way. I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be. I’m not going to stop working as hard as I’m working because I love it and I love the grind and I love every single part of it.”
Fletcher also shared his thoughts on his upcoming opponent, Kevin Knight, noting that Knight is in a similar position to where Fletcher once was. “He’s so capable. It feels like he is in the spot that I was a few years ago. He’s just coming to AEW. He’s a part of a great tag team Jet Speed right now. He’s doing some great things and now he’s in the Continental Classic getting able to show what he’s made of on his own.”
Reflecting on his past tournament experience, Fletcher noted that he finished last year’s round-robin with a 4-1 record, topping the Blue League, but was eliminated in the semifinals by Will Ospreay. His only round-robin loss came to Mark Briscoe, who went on to defeat him for the TNT Championship at Full Gear. Fletcher’s perspective shows a wrestler fully embracing the challenges of competition, using them as motivation to continue improving and thriving in AEW’s competitive environment.
