Danhausen Nearing AEW Exit as WWE Interest Grows

Danhausen Nearing AEW Exit as WWE Interest Grows – Danhausen’s AEW future is uncertain as his contract approaches its end, and a new report suggests he could hit free agency soon with notable interest from rival companies.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that Danhausen’s deal is expected to expire around February. Adding fuel to the speculation, WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select spoke with WWE sources who indicated the company would be interested in pursuing him once he becomes available. One source even stated that Danhausen “would thrive in the NXT setting.”

Danhausen has not appeared on AEW programming at any point in 2025, though he has remained active on the independent scene. According to the report, he asked AEW not to extend his contract with injury time, which was originally set to run out this past summer. That request points toward a desire to reach free agency without prolonging his current deal.

His most recent AEW match took place at the Worlds End pay-per-view in December 2023, where he competed in the Zero Hour battle royal. Since then, he has focused on independent bookings and appearances. Meanwhile, AEW is preparing for this year’s Worlds End event on Saturday, December 27, in Chicago, closing out its 2025 schedule.
