Bully Ray Thinks Bron Breakker Should Dominate CM Punk in Their Title Match – Bron Breakker’s pursuit of CM Punk and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship has earned strong backing from Bully Ray, who believes Breakker should dominate Punk in their January 5 title match.
Bron Breakker has made his mission clear since ejecting Seth Rollins from The Vision in October. With CM Punk holding the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, Breakker is determined to claim the title — and his momentum only grew after pinning Punk during WWE Survivor Series: WarGames. His win now sets the stage for a championship showdown on January 5, and WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray believes the match should establish whether Breakker is truly ready to run with WWE’s top stars.
On Busted Open Radio, Ray pushed for WWE to fully commit to Breakker’s rise, urging the company to stop holding him back. “Throw [Breakker] in the deep end,” Ray said. “Let’s see what happens. Boom! Let’s quit f**ing around here. Throw him in the deep end. Let’s see what you got, kid.”*
Ray also believes Breakker should defeat Punk in shocking fashion if WWE wants to cement him as a top-tier star. After watching Breakker’s fiery promo on WWE RAW this week, Ray argued that an abrupt, dominant win would completely flip the main event picture. “I would have no problem with [Breakker beating Punk in 30 seconds] because it’s … shock and awe. Absolute obliteration and destruction of CM Punk in this kid’s biggest match to date, you would be sitting back going, ‘What the frick just happened?’”
Ray compared the potential moment to Goldberg’s unforgettable 90-second destruction of Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series 2016 — an outcome that stunned fans worldwide. A similar moment for Breakker, Ray believes, could instantly elevate him to a new level. Punk, meanwhile, would still come away with even more fan support due to the sympathy such a loss would generate.
During his RAW promo, Breakker appeared alongside The Vision — Bronson Reed, Paul Heyman, and Logan Paul — and launched into a tirade aimed squarely at CM Punk. He said it angered him how “easy” it was to pin Punk at WarGames and referred to the champion as a “soft ass bitch.” Breakker also brought up Punk dropping him on his neck with a Doomsday Device, claiming Punk had tried to derail his career.
Ray praised the overall tone of the promo, calling it raw and natural, but said the most impactful moment wasn’t verbal. “You know what I loved the most about Bron Breakker’s promo? Not one thing about what he said, it’s what he did afterwards,” Ray explained. He highlighted Breakker storming out of the ring, fueled by intensity and frustration, slamming down his microphone before leaving The Vision behind him.
According to Ray, Breakker’s body language told the story of a man barely holding himself back: “If I stay in this ring for one more second, I don’t know who’s freaking head I’m gonna rip off. That’s how dangerous I am at this very moment.”
Before exiting, Breakker made one final vow — he promised to stand over CM Punk as the new champion on January 5, insisting Punk would finally learn he is not the “best in the world.”
