Tony Khan Provides Updates on Andrade, Chris Jericho and Britt Baker – AEW President Tony Khan sat down with Ariel Helwani on Tuesday for a wide-ranging interview that touched on the status of several big-name wrestlers and his relationship with UFC head Dana White.
Andrade El Idolo
Khan was cautious when discussing Andrade El Idolo’s contractual situation, reiterating that when Andrade initially left AEW, it was on the “best of terms.” He added that he was thrilled to see Andrade again and hopes to work with him whenever he is free.
When asked whether Andrade misrepresented his status following his WWE departure — which reportedly came with a one-year non-compete clause — Khan declined to comment. Andrade reappeared in AEW this past October after being fired from WWE, attacking Kenny Omega, but quickly disappeared from television afterward.
Chris Jericho
Khan expressed similar sentiments about Chris Jericho, emphasizing that the former AEW World Champion is always welcome back. Jericho has not appeared on AEW programming since April.
Khan explained that Jericho’s absence has partly been about working out dates, but he would not confirm when Jericho’s contract expires. Jericho himself has previously stated that his deal runs through the end of the year. “I hope to have Jericho back in AEW,” Khan said, noting that when dealing with talents of Jericho’s stature, negotiations often involve a specific number of dates.
Britt Baker
Khan also addressed the status of Britt Baker, who has not wrestled for AEW since November 2024. He reiterated that he has had positive conversations with her and remains optimistic about her return. “I’m still looking for the right time with Britt,” Khan said. “I would love to have her back in AEW. Britt is going to be back, I really believe, in AEW and I hope soon. It has to be the right situation for her and everyone involved. I want to make sure she’s 100% and that’s important to me.”
Baker’s absence has been felt in AEW’s women’s division, where she remains one of the most recognizable stars. Khan’s comments suggest her return is a matter of timing and health rather than contract disputes.
Dana White
Despite Dana White’s position under the TKO umbrella with UFC, Khan confirmed that the two remain close. He revealed that they recently attended a University of Miami football game together, joined by several Jacksonville Jaguars executives and Dan Lambert. “We’re still close,” Khan said of White, underscoring their ongoing relationship despite the corporate divide.
