Kyle Fletcher Says He’s Better Than Logan Paul, Eyes TNT Title Record – AEW TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher has responded strongly to recent comments from wrestling veteran Stevie Richards, who claimed Logan Paul is “better than anyone in AEW.” Fletcher, who is preparing for a record-setting title defense at AEW Full Gear, didn’t mince words when asked about the statement.
During an appearance on TMZ Inside The Ring, Fletcher explained that Richards’ remarks felt more like an attempt to stir controversy than a genuine opinion. “I think I said the same thing with his comments on me. I think a lot of these things are done with the thought process. Oh, this will get a reaction. Oh, this will get clicks,” Fletcher said. “I don’t know if he believes that wholeheartedly. If he does, like I said, everyone’s entitled to their opinion. I think that opinion is bullshit. Personally.”
Fletcher went on to praise the quality of AEW’s roster, calling Richards’ claim “absurd.” He emphasized how consistently the company delivers high-caliber matches. “I think the roster that we have at AEW, the matches that are that you see on a weekly, bi weekly, like monthly basis, it I am astounded, like I can’t even keep up, like I watch one match that I go, that’s the best match I’ve seen this year, and then the next week I’ll see the another match that I think is the best match this year. It’s an absolutely absurd claim to make.”
While Fletcher acknowledged Logan Paul’s athleticism, he drew a clear line when comparing him to AEW’s elite. “And I hate that Logan Paul is doing great stuff, good for you. He’s been in the business for five years, if that. So, the level that he’s performing at is insane. Do I think he’s better than Kenny Omega? Will Ospreay? Not a fucking chance, right?”
Beyond the debate, Fletcher is focused on his own legacy. His upcoming defense at AEW Full Gear will be his ninth, which would set the record for most defenses in a single TNT Championship reign. The current record is shared between Fletcher and Cody Rhodes. Fletcher admitted the pressure of holding the belt is immense. “Especially a title like the TNT Championship, which has had such a crazy lineage, the amount of people, the people that have held it such like a high echelon, that you almost just by holding it feel like you have to live up to that,” Fletcher said. “I keep saying that I want to be the greatest TNT champion of all time, and when I think about that, it’s like that means I have to be better than all these people that have held this belt before me.”
When asked how he felt about potentially surpassing Cody Rhodes, Fletcher admitted it was a strange feeling. “Proclaiming that I’m the greatest anti-champion of all time, and surpassing Cody as well …it’s a weird sense of, like, imposter syndrome, a little bit to me,” he said. “Cody Rhodes, currently, the number one star in probably all of wrestling right now, like the top dog. And to be like, Oh, I had a better championship race. Yeah, look at me.”
Despite the surreal nature of surpassing Rhodes, Fletcher sees it as validation. “But it’s also very reassuring to me, like, oh, I mean, look at me. I’m doing better than Cody Rhodes, better than Miro, better than WWE. You know, it’s kind of a weird thing. It’s a weird feeling, but it also reassures me that I’m on the right path. I’m doing, doing the right thing, you know, moving in the right direction.”
Fletcher is set to defend the TNT Championship against Mark Briscoe in a No Disqualification match this Saturday at AEW Full Gear. With history on the line, Fletcher’s words make clear that he’s not only defending a title — he’s defending AEW’s reputation against outside criticism while carving out his own place in wrestling history.
