Swerve Strickland Returns at AEW Full Gear and Targets The Opps

Swerve Strickland Returns at AEW Full Gear and Targets The Opps – Swerve Strickland made a dramatic return at AEW Full Gear, appearing moments after Samoa Joe captured the AEW World Championship. As Joe celebrated, the arena went dark and a burning house appeared on the screen. Prince Nana then emerged on the stage, signaling what was about to follow. The familiar call of “Whose House?” echoed throughout the Prudential Center as Swerve walked out to a new entrance theme, drawing an immediate reaction from the crowd.

Swerve headed straight toward the ring while The Opps stepped aside, assuming he intended to go after Hangman Adam Page, who was still recovering from the brutal steel cage match. That assumption was quickly proven wrong. Instead of targeting Page, Swerve launched himself at The Opps, attacking Powerhouse Hobbs, Katsuyori Shibata, Hook, and even Samoa Joe himself. One by one, he struck every member of the group, clearing the ring with sudden intensity and reminding everyone exactly who he is.

With The Opps forced to retreat up the ramp, Swerve and Page stood together in the ring, creating an unexpected visual to close the show. Despite their long and heated history, the two rivals found themselves aligned in the moment as the faction backed away.

Swerve’s return comes after a lengthy absence dating back to AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, where he suffered a torn meniscus in his match against Kazuchika Okada. He later underwent surgery and has been off television ever since.

His appearance also reignites multiple story threads. Swerve and Joe share a direct championship history, as Swerve’s first AEW World Title reign began when he defeated Joe at Dynasty in April 2024. Meanwhile, his feud with Page had previously defined much of AEW’s main event scene, though both men had moved past their rivalry earlier in the summer.

Strickland’s return signals major shifts on the horizon for the AEW World Title picture and for The Opps, who now find themselves in the crosshairs of a reinvigorated Swerve.
