7 Strange WWE Facts You May Not Have Known

7 Strange WWE Facts You May Not Have Known

The WWE can be strange at times, with some iconic moments that could never have been predicted by fans, but this is what keeps the series entertaining. With this in mind BoyleSports, home of titles like rainbow riches, have picked out 7 of the strangers WWE facts you may not have known.

Whether you’re new to WWE or a lifelong enthusiast, there will always be something that doesn’t come as expected, constantly keeping viewers on their toes. With so much going on, there are often a few things that fly under the radar as a result of the heavy focus on the action-packed matchups, including various strange facts that even some of the most dedicated fans may not be aware of.

The Zombie Wrestler

In 2006, WWE introduced the ECW brand in a way that nobody expected, nor knew how to react to. A zombie wrestler was introduced, acting and portraying a zombie through groans and actions, stumbling into the ring. The whole act left fans confused and stunned as they entered the ring only to get beaten by The Sandman. Despite its strange nature, this moment remains relatively forgotten.

Vince McMahon Hates Sneezing

McMahon is a strange character in itself, built around conflict early on in his WWE career, creating a controlling and evil owner of the company, but what people don’t get to see too often is the real personality of Vince McMahon. It has been made known that he has a massive fear of sneezing, mostly when he does it himself. He views it as a sign of weakness and chooses not to if he can help it.

The Eggman

This gimmick was highly anticipated during the several events it was teased, but turned out to be a very confusing and disappointing stunt. An egg was placed in various corners of the broadcasts before the gimmick was set to be announced, with fans speculating on a new character. However, in a disappointing fashion, a man in a giant turkey costume hatched out. The undertaker was announced in the same show in a different way, but was meant to be inside the egg until a last-minute character change.

Chilly McFreeze

Steve Austin is one of the most iconic WWE characters, with arguably one of the best nicknames being referred to as ‘Stone Cold Steve Austin’. His character is built around his calm personality and cold-blooded persona, which is why he initially had a few odd names, such as Fang McFrost, Ice Dagger, and the one he was almost called, Chilly McFreeze.

Longest WWE Singles Match

Any WWE matchup is a test of endurance, let alone a singles match that lasts over an hour. Many people can remember that infamous Monday Night Raw match involving Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, John Cena, Ellas, Finn Balor, The Miz, and Braun Strowman, lasting 106 minutes between the 7, but not many are aware of the 1964 WWWF World Heavyweight Championship. The match took place at Madison Square Garden between Bruno Sammartino and Waldo Von Erich, lasting 81 minutes. This heavyweight match went down in history as the longest in WWE, with Bruno Sammartino lifting the belt.

The Boogeyman and His Worms

The Boogeyman is known for his eating worms gimmick, which grossed out viewers around the world. The stunt was associated with his crazy persona and inhumane character, highlighted by his bold behaviour. Many WWE fans expected the worms to be fake and props, as nobody really believed that the actor would eat real worms; however, he did. It was confirmed that he did consume real worms during his stunts, which had to be ended as a result of the advice from doctors.

The Shortest In-Ring Career

Joining the WWE is a proud achievement for many who have trained to get to the top, but some careers may not pan out quite as they expect. Becoming the next John Cena or embodying a widely loved character like Roman Reigns is an aspiration once the WWE contract is signed, but for UFC fighter Cain Velasquez, that didn’t go to plan. The professional mixed martial artist was introduced to the WWE after winning a UFC matchup with Brock Lesnar, which led to the same matchup being presented in the WWE. After success in the UFC for Velasquez, he signed with the wrestling company in October of 2019, going head-to-head with Lesnar once more that same month. After defeating Lesnar once more, he revealed he was injured, preventing any future matches, until April 2020, when he was released from the company due to cuts as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. His WWE career lasted 6 months in total, with a single fight lasting around 2 minutes.
