Wade Barrett Set to Return at WWE WrestlePalooza – After several weeks away from WWE television, Wade Barrett is scheduled to make his return to commentary this weekend in Indianapolis. According to PWInsider, Barrett is listed internally for the broadcast team at WWE’s inaugural WrestlePalooza premium live event.
Barrett’s absence, which he requested in advance, had fueled speculation about his status with the company. The discussion picked up following WWE’s recent shakeup of the SmackDown commentary team. Michael Cole announced that he and Corey Graves would be calling the blue brand for the next couple of months, raising questions about Barrett’s role going forward.
The former WWE Intercontinental Champion directly addressed the rumors in late August. In a post on X, Barrett clarified that his time off was pre-planned, calling the reports of his removal “a complete non-story.”
“I usually ignore BS reports like this, but it’s causing needless hate to be spewed towards people I work with,” Barrett wrote. “WWE have kindly given me a couple of weeks off for personal time (booked nine months ago), and then I’m back to business as usual. A complete non-story. The end.”
A previous report had claimed that Barrett was “off the road going forward,” but his statement confirmed otherwise. With his return now lined up for WrestlePalooza, it remains unclear exactly where he will fit on the broadcast team. WWE could keep him alongside Cole and Graves in a three-man booth, or he may be assigned a different role depending on long-term plans.
