Triple H Confirms Cody Rhodes for Wrestlepalooza – Paul “Triple H” Levesque appeared on The Pat McAfee Show this week and discussed WWE’s upcoming Wrestlepalooza premium live event, set for September 20 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The show will mark WWE’s first main roster PLE streamed on the new ESPN app, giving the event added significance.
Triple H confirmed that Cody Rhodes will appear at Wrestlepalooza, marking his first on-screen appearance since being written off television following Drew McIntyre’s brutal attack on the August 8 episode of SmackDown.
McAfee brought up the origins of the Wrestlepalooza name, which was previously used by ECW. Triple H acknowledged the connection, saying WWE is giving ECW credit while also making the name their own.
On the quick turnaround in organizing the event, Triple H explained:
“There was a lot of thought but it was in a brief period of time, so we were sort of under the gun. As soon as we heard Indianapolis was on the table, had the date open, we were in, this place is phenomenal, so that was a no brainer for us, but we moved quick, the whole thing came together quickly, ESPN asked for the date, they wanted a mega event, we said yes, we had to pick a name and go.”
On crediting ECW for the event name, he added:
“Yeah, shout out to ECW. Lollapalooza was a big thing but now we’re gonna take that title.”
And on Rhodes’ involvement, he revealed:
“I will give you a spoiler right now..Cody Rhodes will be at Wrestlepalooza.”
Triple H’s confirmation of Cody Rhodes for Wrestlepalooza gives the show a major boost, especially since Rhodes has been off television for over a month. Pairing WWE’s first ESPN-streamed PLE with the high-profile return of one of its top stars creates strong intrigue. The ECW connection to the Wrestlepalooza name is also noteworthy, signaling WWE’s willingness to embrace history while positioning this as a tentpole event.
