Roman Reigns Expected To Take More Time Off Following SummerSlam

Roman Reigns Expected To Take More Time Off Following SummerSlam – Following his tag team victory on Night One of SummerSlam, Roman Reigns is once again preparing to step away from WWE programming—this time to pursue his expanding career in Hollywood. Reigns, who has been cast as Akuma in the upcoming live-action Street Fighter movie, is expected to take a multi-month hiatus to begin filming in Australia this August.

At SummerSlam Night One, Reigns reunited with his cousin, “Main Event” Jey Uso, to defeat Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed in a high-profile tag team match. Reigns sealed the win with a Spear on Reed, marking one of his few recent in-ring appearances and potentially his last for the next several months.

Although WWE has not formally announced Reigns’ time off, the timing aligns with the start of production for the Street Fighter film. The former Undisputed WWE Universal Champion is expected to be off television for approximately three and a half months. Despite the absence, Reigns is already being advertised for WWE Survivor Series, scheduled for Saturday, November 22, 2025. His advertised return date fits the timeline for a standard blockbuster filming schedule.

This hiatus continues the limited schedule Reigns has maintained since 2022, allowing him to pursue outside ventures while WWE positions him as a “special attraction” talent. Much like John Cena and The Rock before him, Reigns is gradually transitioning into a dual role as both a WWE megastar and Hollywood actor. His sporadic WWE appearances in recent years have only increased the impact of his returns, making each moment feel like an event.

Reigns’ casting as Akuma signals his growing profile in the entertainment industry. The Street Fighter franchise is one of the most recognizable video game properties globally, and his involvement in a major adaptation is a notable milestone in his post-WWE trajectory. For WWE, the trade-off is clear: fewer appearances from Reigns, but greater mainstream visibility when he does return.

With Survivor Series already on the calendar as his next expected appearance, fans will be left waiting to see what role Reigns plays when he returns—and whether he’ll resume his dominance or step into a new phase of his WWE career.
