Drew McIntyre Doubles Down on Criticism of WWE Roster, Challenges Backstage Critics – Drew McIntyre is doubling down on his recent criticism of the WWE locker room, continuing to stir conversation just one day before his high-profile SummerSlam appearance.
While speaking on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast last month, McIntyre made headlines with a blunt assessment of the current WWE roster. “No offense, but 85% of our guys don’t look like they should be in WWE,” McIntyre said. He noted that many of his non-wrestling friends watch WWE only to quickly lose interest when performers lack a larger-than-life physical presence. “There’s these other guys that look like they should be serving me my fast food, McDonald’s or whatever,” he remarked, pointing out how casual fans often dismiss some talents based on appearance alone.
The former WWE Champion elaborated that visual impact is crucial to attracting and retaining an audience. “My buddy’s like, ‘I could kick their ass.’ It takes me out of it… I changed the channel,” McIntyre admitted. “Jesus, guys, get in the frickin’ gym. At least get something that grabs your attention.”
In a follow-up interview with The Masked Man Show, McIntyre did not back down. Instead, he invited anyone offended by his remarks to address him directly. “You’ve got eyeballs, you tell me. Am I lying? Would you have said something to me?” he asked.
Taking things further, McIntyre issued a challenge to anyone backstage who may have taken offense. “If you got a problem, take it up with me. If you got a big problem, then fight me,” he said. “I’m gonna verbally rip you apart. You can try on social media—I can rip you apart on there too. I’m too quick with my brain, I’m too big to beat up, so what you gonna do? If I wasn’t married, I’d take your girl. I ain’t one to mess with.”
McIntyre is scheduled to appear at SummerSlam in a marquee tag team bout, partnering with United States Champion Logan Paul to face Randy Orton and recording artist Jelly Roll. The match blends WWE’s sports entertainment with celebrity crossover, placing McIntyre’s brash comments even more under the spotlight during the biggest weekend of the summer.
