CM Punk Backstage at NXT Live Event – CM Punk was backstage at the NXT live event in Tampa, Florida, on Saturday, July 19, continuing his ongoing involvement with WWE’s developmental brand while in town for unrelated business.
The appearance was first reported by Cory Hays of PWNexus and BodySlam.net, who noted that Punk remained in Tampa following his commentary work at a Cage Fury Fighting Championships (CFFC) event on Friday night. According to Hays, Punk took the opportunity to visit the NXT house show the following evening. In a post on Twitter/X, Hays stated, “CM Punk was backstage at tonight’s NXT live event in Tampa. He was in town after doing commentary on the Cage Fury Fighting Championship (CFFC) show on Friday night and decided to stay in town and check out the NXT show.”
Since returning to WWE in November 2023, Punk has maintained a presence within NXT, occasionally appearing on NXT TV and offering guidance to younger talent at the WWE Performance Center. Multiple NXT wrestlers have previously praised Punk for his willingness to mentor and share advice behind the scenes.
Despite his behind-the-scenes role in developmental, Punk’s immediate focus remains on the biggest match of his current run. He is set to challenge GUNTHER for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam, which will take place over two nights—August 2 and 3. The title match marks Punk’s most significant in-ring opportunity since his WWE return and will be a marquee attraction for the event.
As of now, Punk has not appeared publicly on NXT programming since early June, but with SummerSlam approaching and his backstage visits continuing, his dual focus on NXT mentorship and main roster gold remains clear.
