WWE Signs Kamala to a Posthumous Legends Deal – Nearly five years after his passing, Kamala (James Harris) has been signed to a WWE Legends contract.
The Harris family shared the news in a Facebook post this week, revealing that WWE has officially signed the late wrestler to a posthumous deal. This announcement comes amid reports that Kamala is being considered for the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2025.
Emmer Jean Harris, Kamala’s wife, expressed her gratitude:
“We couldn’t be prouder that James’s legacy is back home where it belongs.”
Branding agency 16 Creative played a key role in securing the agreement. The agency’s founder, Jared Ashley, spoke about the effort to honor Kamala’s legacy:
“When we began working with the estate, my main goal was to get Kamala signed to a Legends deal — and hopefully into the WWE Hall of Fame. I’ve always felt that’s where he belongs, and I think many of his fans would agree. It has been such an honor to work with this family over the past few years, and now with WWE, to help preserve Kamala’s incredible legacy.”
Kamala passed away in August 2020 at age 70 due to a heart attack following complications from diabetes and COVID-19. He was one of wrestling’s most memorable characters of the 1980s, competing in Memphis, Mid-South, World Class Championship Wrestling, and WWF.
The WWE Hall of Fame ceremony is set for April 18 in Las Vegas. So far, the class includes Paul “Triple H” Levesque, Michelle McCool, Lex Luger, and The Natural Disasters (Earthquake & Typhoon).
