Former Ohio Valley Wrestling standout Jamin Olivencia has offered a rare look behind the curtain regarding his permanent banishment from WWE, tracing the issue back to a chaotic misunderstanding with Paul “Triple H” Levesque.
Speaking on the LiMPiN AiNT EASY podcast, Olivencia detailed how a push from Stephanie McMahon led to a career-altering interaction. McMahon had previously complimented Olivencia’s promo work and requested a audition tape. When the footage failed to reach her hands, McMahon advised the independent veteran to approach Levesque directly during an episode of WWE television.
When Olivencia spotted Levesque in a hallway the following day, he seized what he believed to be a career-making moment.
“I saw him in the hallway. He was talking to Kofi Kingston. You know how you’re standing around waiting like a kid? It’s my turn coming up. So, he gets done talking to Kofi and then I start walking with him and talking, and I said, ‘Hey Hunter. Is there any opportunity where we could get to talk? I think I’d be great for kids; I think I could be marketable,’ and he says, ‘I don’t have time today,'” Olivencia stated. “I really think if I was given the opportunity, I could do well, and in my mind, in the moment, I thought I was grabbing the brass ring, and I thought I was showing initiative.”
The situation unraveled rapidly. Within fifteen minutes, venue security cornered Olivencia in catering, claiming he had ambushed Levesque inside a private restroom to demand a contract. Despite Olivencia insisting the entire exchange occurred in plain sight in a corridor, guards escorted him out and barred him from returning.
Rumors of the alleged bathroom confrontation quickly spread among management, souring his reputation with key supporters in the company. The fallout reached a breaking point five years later when talent executive Canyon Ceman invited Olivencia to WWE RAW in Cleveland, Ohio. After driving through a severe snowstorm from Louisville, a referee pulled Olivencia aside to break the news that former Talent Relations Director Mark Carrano still considered him blacklisted. Security ejected him from the arena a second time.
Now removed from the industry, Olivencia views the situation without bitterness, pointing to his own lack of awareness at age 28.
“I can always look at that experience with Hunter and take full responsibility that I put myself in that position. I’m the one that was aggressive. The reality was, no, this guy’s super f*cking busy. I didn’t have the foresight or the understanding at 28 — at the time — to realize that. I was being aggressive and you know my energy. It can be very strong sometimes,” Olivencia acknowledged. “I think somewhere in the midst of it all, I healed myself by taking accountability instead of blaming.”
