Former Impact World Champion Josh Alexander made a unexpected return to All Elite Wrestling during the September 2 episode of AEW Dynamite, stepping back into an AEW ring for the first time in nearly six months.
The return occurred immediately following a TNT Championship defense where champion Darby Allin successfully defeated Mark Davis. Following the contest, Davis attempted to add insult to injury by continuing his assault on Allin.
Post-Match Ambush Leaves Borden And Allin Down
Seeing the post-match beatdown, Steven Borden (son of WWE Hall of Famer Sting) rushed down to the ring to make the save for Allin and confront Davis.
As Borden stood off against Davis inside the squared circle, Alexander made his entrance, charging the ring from behind to blindside Borden. The returning star immediately laid out Borden before locking Allin into a punishing Ankle Lock, sending a clear message to the roster.
First AEW Appearance Since Injury
The assault marks Alexander’s first appearance on AEW television since March 2026, when he was sidelined after suffering a severe knee injury.
- In-Ring Return: Alexander officially made his return to pro wrestling action earlier in August, making an appearance at a Maple Leaf Pro Mayhem event.
- AEW Status: Now back on AEW programming, “The Walking Weapon” looks primed to reinsert himself directly into a featured storyline alongside Davis and The Don Callis Family ecosystem.
