Chelsea Green Sends Message to Michael Hayes After SummerSlam Title Win

Chelsea Green didn’t hold back following her Interim WWE Women’s Championship victory at SummerSlam 2026, delivering a candid response to longtime WWE producer Michael Hayes—and even thanking him for helping fuel her rise.

Green captured the interim title during Night 2 of SummerSlam in a high-stakes ladder match against Charlotte Flair, Jade Cargill, Tiffany Stratton, and Lash Legend, marking one of the biggest wins of her career.

Chelsea Green Fires Back—and Says “Thank You”

Speaking with Sam Roberts on WWE Now, Green addressed past perceptions that she wasn’t viewed as a top-tier talent.

“Screw them,” Green said bluntly when asked about the lack of faith in her as a leading star.

Her comments were tied to Michael Hayes’ remarks on WWE’s Unreal series, where he suggested that Green was someone who “makes stars” rather than being one herself.

Rather than taking offense alone, Green explained that those comments unexpectedly worked in her favor.

“Yes, yes, I have thought that since the minute that Season 1 Episode 3 of Unreal came out. I thought, ‘Oh, this is not going to be good for the office but I love it.’ Hello! I’m getting all this love for just being me… for literally just showing up to work, doing my job and going home.”

Unreal’s Impact on Her Popularity

Green emphasized that the Unreal series played a major role in shifting fan perception. According to her, Hayes’ comments sparked a groundswell of support that continued to grow over multiple seasons.

She noted that the reaction intensified with the release of Season 3, saying it “reignited that passion” among fans and amplified the momentum she had already been building.

“I have felt it all weekend, I have felt it all year, I felt it for three years… but it has exploded since then. Exploded.”

Despite the original criticism, Green made it clear she holds no resentment.

“And I thank Michael Hayes for that,” she added.

A Turning Point Since Her WWE Return

Green also reflected on how her WWE run has evolved since returning in 2023. What began as a role many saw as secondary has steadily transformed into a breakout run, culminating in championship gold on one of WWE’s biggest stages.

Her SummerSlam victory not only earned her the Interim WWE Women’s Championship but also solidified her as a major player in the division moving forward.

With fan support at an all-time high and momentum firmly on her side, Chelsea Green’s message was clear: the narrative around her has changed—and she’s fully embracing it.
