New details have emerged regarding LA Knight and how WWE originally planned to use him following WrestleMania 42.
According to Bodyslam.net, Knight was initially set for a short program with Gunther. However, those plans were later changed, with a new direction pointing toward a potential push involving Cody Rhodes and the Undisputed WWE Championship.
At this time, there is no confirmed update on WWE’s current creative plans for Knight following that reported shift.
LA Knight WWE plans update
Knight’s most recent appearance came at WrestleMania 42 Night Saturday, where he teamed with The Usos against The Vision and IShowSpeed. The match marked his last televised outing to date.
Leading into the event, there had been concern about a possible injury. Knight addressed those concerns directly, stating that a bursa flare-up would not prevent him from competing at WrestleMania.
Meanwhile, Gunther’s direction shifted after his match with Seth Rollins at the event. Rather than continuing with a separate feud, Gunther moved into the WWE Championship picture.
On the May 1 episode of SmackDown, Gunther attacked Rhodes following his match against Ricky Saints. He applied his signature sleeper hold before releasing it and standing over the Undisputed WWE Title, signaling his intentions moving forward.
That development may explain the reported change in plans for Knight, as WWE adjusted its focus at the top of the card.
With Knight currently off television and no clear storyline confirmed, his next direction remains uncertain.
