AEW Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Brackets Revealed With Key Double or Nothing Matches

During the May 13 episode of Dynamite, AEW revealed the full brackets for the men’s and women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournaments, setting up several important matches for Double or Nothing next weekend and the road to Forbidden Door on June 28.

On the men’s side, a first-time match between Will Ospreay and Samoa Joe has been confirmed. Ospreay returned to action this week after recovering from neck surgery and defeated Ace Austin in his first match since aligning with the Death Riders. Joe also recently came back from a concussion and picked up a win in late April. The winner of Ospreay vs. Joe will advance to face either Jack Perry or Mark Davis. That match follows recent developments after Davis defeated Perry for the National title at Fairway to Hell, continuing their rivalry.

The other half of the bracket features Swerve Strickland vs. Bandido, a match that has been teased over the past several weeks. This will be Strickland’s first match since losing to Kenny Omega in mid-April. The winner will move on to face either Brody King or Claudio Castagnoli. The two have split previous singles matches, with King winning in the 2023 Continental Classic and Castagnoli responding with a victory in the 2024 tournament.

The women’s bracket also includes notable debuts. Sareee is set to face Skye Blue in a quarterfinal match. The winner will advance to take on either Athena or Mina Shirakawa. Athena, the current Ring of Honor Women’s Champion, has not wrestled in AEW since December and previously reached the semifinals of last year’s tournament.

On the opposite side, Persephone will return from injury to face Hazuki in another first-time matchup. The winner will go on to face either TBS Champion Willow Nightingale or Alex Windsor, with that match already confirmed for Double or Nothing.

The finals for both tournaments are scheduled for Forbidden Door in San Jose, California. The winners are expected to receive future AEW World Championship opportunities at All In later this summer.
