Tommaso Ciampa Explains Heel Turn

Tommaso Ciampa has addressed his shocking actions from the March 7 episode of AEW Collision after turning heel and attacking Mark Briscoe in a moment that quickly gained attention among fans.

During the Collision broadcast, Ciampa competed in a singles match against Daniel Garcia. The match took a turn near the finish when Briscoe, who had been seated at the commentary table, became involved in the action.

Garcia approached Briscoe during the match, which prompted Briscoe to step onto the ring apron. Moments later, Ciampa was sent into the ropes and collided with Briscoe on the apron. The distraction created an opening for Garcia, who immediately rolled Ciampa up and secured the three-count to win the match.

After the bout ended, FTR — Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler — made their way to the ring. The team had previously approached Ciampa about forming an alliance, and they appeared ready to confront the former NXT Champion.

Briscoe then returned to the ring, seemingly to prevent a potential attack from taking place. The situation calmed down briefly as Ciampa and Briscoe left the ring and began walking toward the backstage area together.

However, the situation quickly changed.

While on the stage ramp, Ciampa suddenly attacked Briscoe by throwing him headfirst into the stage structure. The moment closely resembled Ciampa’s infamous betrayal of Johnny Gargano during their DIY breakup storyline in NXT.

Shortly after AEW Collision went off the air, Ciampa released a video on social media explaining why he decided to attack Briscoe and embrace a more aggressive attitude.

“Tonight was my chance. How do I get a rematch for my championship title with a loss tonight? And why the hell was he out there in the first place?”

Ciampa continued by expressing frustration about how he believes he has been treated.

“What feels good is to no longer pretend. What doesn’t feel good is the disrespect. I’m sick of it because I’m the best me! I’m the best damn wrestler alive! And nobody, not a soul, I mean nobody, gives me the respect that I deserve.”

He then issued a warning to the entire AEW roster.

“So you wanna get real? Yeah, we can get real. Let’s get real. S—‘s about to get real. Everybody, everybody’s on notice. March 7, 2026, the Psycho Killer is alive.”

The fallout from the attack will continue on the next episode of AEW Dynamite. Ciampa is scheduled to team with FTR in a six-man tag team match against Mark Briscoe and The Young Bucks.
