WWE Reportedly Not Viewing Je’Von Evans as a Franchise-Level Star

WWE Reportedly Not Viewing Je’Von Evans as a Franchise-Level Star – Je’Von Evans continues to draw strong reactions from fans, but a new backstage report suggests WWE’s internal view of his long-term ceiling may be more reserved.

On the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that while Evans is considered someone who can become a star, WWE officials reportedly do not see him as a future franchise-level centerpiece. That role, according to the report, is firmly assigned to Oba Femi.

Meltzer noted that even Evans winning a major fan-voted award has not altered that internal perception.

“Same way with Evans winning the fan voting that Femi by all rights should have won based on positioning, but they still see Femi as a top guy and Evans as a guy who can be a star, but not a franchise star.”

The assessment stands out given Evans’ rapid rise in 2025. At just 21 years old, he was named NXT Male Superstar of the Year, an honor announced on the December 30 episode of NXT after fans overwhelmingly voted in his favor. Evans also co-headlined NXT Stand & Deliver, where his triple threat match against Femi and Trick Williams earned Match of the Year recognition.

Despite those accolades, the report indicates WWE’s long-term vision has remained consistent. Evans is viewed as someone with significant upside and mainstream appeal, but not the foundational figure the company sees in Femi, who is believed to be on a dominant, top-tier trajectory.

That context may also help explain Evans’ relatively understated transition to the main roster. He officially joined Monday Night RAW on January 5, 2026, alongside Oba Femi and Trick Williams, but the move was handled quietly, including a contract signing that took place during a commercial break rather than on the live broadcast.
