Street Profits Set for NXT Live Event Return

Street Profits Set for NXT Live Event Return – The Street Profits appear ready to step back into the ring this weekend, though their return will not take place on Friday Night SmackDown.

According to a new report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins are scheduled to work upcoming NXT live events. The appearances would mark their first in-ring action after several weeks away from WWE television, a gap that sparked speculation about their status.

Their recent absence led many to wonder if injuries were involved, but that does not appear to be the case. Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that both Ford and Dawkins are healthy and cleared to compete. Instead, their time away from weekly programming was described as a deliberate creative decision by WWE.

“Neither of the Street Profits are hurt,” the report stated. “The decision was just made to take them off TV to allow them to freshen up.”

The move suggests WWE officials may be planning a reset or adjustment for the team before bringing them back to SmackDown. Taking established acts off television for a short period is a strategy WWE has used in the past, often to help prevent overexposure or to prepare for changes in presentation, alignment, or direction.

Working NXT live events fits that approach. WWE has frequently sent main roster talent to NXT house shows as a way to stay sharp, work through new ideas, or reconnect with live crowds in a lower-pressure environment. For Ford and Dawkins, the NXT loop could provide an opportunity to test subtle changes or simply regain momentum before returning to national television.

The Street Profits were last featured prominently on SmackDown during the summer of 2025. At that time, they were positioned as one of the brand’s top tag teams. Their most recent title run began on the March 14, 2025 episode of SmackDown, when they defeated #DIY to capture the WWE Tag Team Championships. The reign included a successful defense in a TLC match in April, reinforcing their status as a centerpiece of the division.

That run ended on July 11, 2025, when they dropped the titles to Dexter Lumis and Joe Gacy of The Wyatt Sicks. Following that loss, the team gradually faded from weekly storylines before being removed from television entirely.

With reports confirming they are healthy and active, their involvement in NXT live events appears to be a step toward an eventual return to SmackDown. When that happens, it remains to be seen whether the Street Profits return in the same role or with a refreshed presentation designed to reestablish them in the tag team picture.
