Leon Slater Addresses WWE And NXT Talent Appearing In TNA – TNA X Division Champion Leon Slater has experienced the benefits of inter-promotional cooperation firsthand, but he also believes that maintaining the right locker room environment is just as important as opening the door to outside talent. During a recent appearance on Unseen with Joey Karni, Slater shared his thoughts on working with NXT and the idea of WWE wrestlers appearing in TNA as part of the growing relationship between the companies.

Slater made it clear that he is not opposed to talent from other promotions stepping into a TNA ring. He explained that he is open to “anybody coming into the TNA locker room and trying their luck,” while adding that “TNA offers something for everyone.” However, he also stressed that chemistry and respect are critical, especially given the current atmosphere within the company.

“I think the biggest thing for me, and the biggest thing for our locker room in general … I think we do hold this protective energy sometimes over that locker room and over the kind of energy that we have with us right now where we don’t want anyone coming in and messing it up,” Slater said.

The X Division Champion went on to explain that respecting another promotion’s locker room culture is something he takes seriously, using his own experiences as an example.

“My biggest thing has always been respecting other people’s locker rooms, right? Like we were saying [about] NXT, what would I look like if I turned up in sweatpants and a baggy hoodie and stuff like that, and left trash in their locker room? So for me, the biggest thing is just having that respect for TNA and for what we’ve been doing because we’re in such a special place right now. And I think I speak for the whole locker room where I say we just don’t want anyone to mess that up.”

Despite those concerns, Slater emphasized that TNA remains welcoming to a wide range of talent, particularly within the X Division, which he views as a standout part of the product.

“But that being said, of course, we welcome to all comers, whether you’re old, you’re young, you’re middle-aged. And especially in the X Division. The X Division is the hottest division in TNA in my opinion. And I’m always up for new challenges, that’s for sure.”

Slater will put that mindset to the test very soon, as he is scheduled to defend the TNA X Division Championship against Cedric Alexander and Moose in a three-way match at TNA Genesis. The pay-per-view takes place on Saturday, January 17.
