Jade Cargill Fires Back at Criticism Over Title Defense Count – WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill made it clear that she is unfazed by public criticism surrounding her title reign.

The champion became a trending topic on social media over the weekend after her new rival, Jordynne Grace, pointed out a notable statistic: Cargill has not defended her championship since winning it from Tiffany Stratton at Saturday Night’s Main Event in November.

Grace highlighted that Cargill had gone 77 days without a title defense, prompting a response from the champion on X (formerly Twitter). Speaking in character, Cargill dismissed the criticism and suggested the lack of defenses was due to a shortage of credible challengers.

“Y’all want me to defend MY Title against a NOBODY. If I’m going to defend MY title- It’s going to be against somebody who is competition!” Cargill wrote. She continued to antagonize critics, adding, “My first Title defense will not be against some walk up nobody. 💅🏾 and y’all can CONTINUE to be angry about it. You might as well cry. 🤣 IDGAF”

While the comments were made in character, they highlight a real issue affecting the SmackDown women’s division. Since capturing the championship, Cargill has competed in only two televised matches, both short squash wins over B-Fab and Alba Fyre.

Several factors have contributed to the lack of movement in the title picture. Tiffany Stratton reportedly took time away due to an undisclosed injury following her title loss. Bianca Belair has been sidelined since suffering a broken knuckle at WrestleMania 41, while a planned program with Michin was scrapped after Michin was injured during the holiday tour. At the same time, Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, and Nia Jax have been focused on the tag team division, leaving few established challengers available.

As a result, Cargill’s championship reign has stalled, drawing increasing attention as WrestleMania season approaches.
