AEW Introduces the National Championship – All Elite Wrestling is set to expand its championship landscape once again with the introduction of a brand-new title — the AEW National Championship.
The announcement was made just minutes before the November 5 episode of AEW Dynamite, live from the Bayou Music Center in Houston, Texas. During a social media live stream, AEW President Tony Khan appeared alongside commentator Tony Schiavone to break the news. While few details were revealed, Khan confirmed that the AEW National Championship is officially coming soon, encouraging fans to tune into Dynamite for additional updates.
The announcement marks AEW’s latest addition to its growing lineup of championships. Back in 2023, the company introduced the AEW Continental Championship, which was later unified with the AEW International Championship (originally the All-Atlantic Championship) and the short-lived AEW American Championship during MJF’s reign. That merger created the current AEW Unified Championship, now held by “The Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada.
More recently, AEW has been promoting the creation of an entirely new division centered around the inaugural AEW Women’s Tag Team Championships, with a tournament underway to crown the first champions.
On Dynamite, commentators referenced the AEW National Championship announcement as the show went live, though the segment was interrupted by The Opps — the trio of Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Katsuyori Shibata. Joe demanded answers from Schiavone regarding the Halloween “Fright Night” episode’s costume mix-up from the previous week. The confrontation escalated into a chaotic brawl with their rivals Hangman Page, Hook, and Eddie Kingston, setting the stage for a Trios Championship main event later in the night.
While further details such as eligibility, weight class, or division focus have yet to be announced, the AEW National Championship is expected to play a major role in AEW’s evolving title picture heading into the final months of 2025.
