WWE Re-Signs Santos Escobar

WWE Re-Signs Santos Escobar

WWE Re-Signs Santos Escobar – In a surprising development, Santos Escobar has officially re-signed with WWE, just days after his previous contract expired and briefly made him a free agent. According to a report from PWInsider.com, the agreement was reached after WWE addressed Escobar’s creative frustrations and presented him with a significantly improved offer.

Sources indicate that WWE management took Escobar’s “creative concerns” seriously and followed up with what was described as a “sizeably larger offer than any of their previous overtures.” The two sides reportedly finalized the deal late yesterday, though there is no confirmed date for Escobar’s on-screen return.

The news marks a major reversal from earlier reports suggesting Escobar was set to depart the company. His contract had recently expired, and he had reportedly turned down previous offers due to dissatisfaction with his creative direction. Escobar’s absence from television since February fueled speculation that his time in WWE had come to an end.

Before joining WWE in 2019, Escobar was a decorated veteran of the Mexican wrestling scene, competing as El Hijo del Fantasma, and made his name internationally in Lucha Underground as King Cuerno. After signing with WWE, he quickly rose to prominence in NXT, unmasking and forming the influential Legado Del Fantasma stable. As its leader, Escobar held the NXT Cruiserweight Championship for over 300 days.

Following his main roster call-up, Legado Del Fantasma became part of the Latino World Order (LWO) alongside Rey Mysterio. The alliance ultimately imploded when Escobar turned on Mysterio, reforming Legado as a heel faction. However, the group’s momentum cooled in recent months, leading to Escobar’s prolonged absence.

Now that his future with WWE is secure, anticipation is high for how the company will reintroduce him. Whether he returns to lead Legado Del Fantasma or embarks on a new direction, Santos Escobar’s renewed deal signals that WWE still views him as a key piece of its future.
