Update on New WWE Performance Center – WWE is moving forward with plans to construct a new Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, while dismissing rumors of relocating its developmental base elsewhere. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there is no indication that WWE intends to leave the city.
“There is a plan to build a new PC in Orlando, so the idea they could be leaving Orlando is absolutely not in the plans right now,” wrote Dave Meltzer. The new building will reportedly be a major upgrade from the current facility. “The idea is to have a larger and better facility with a television studio as part of it,” Meltzer added.
While the project is still in its early stages, the report indicates that the new Performance Center will be constructed near the planned new stadium in Orlando. “It will be located near the new stadium,” Meltzer noted, adding, “Ground hasn’t broken on it so it will be a few years before the move is fully made.”
The current WWE Performance Center opened in 2013 and remains the cornerstone of the company’s developmental system. It serves as both a training ground for NXT talent and a rehabilitation site for main roster superstars recovering from injury. In addition, the venue houses the production studio where WWE films weekly NXT episodes, as well as programming such as EVOLVE and WWE LFG.
As of now, WWE has not issued an official statement regarding the new Performance Center plans or provided a projected completion date.
