Sol Ruca Aiming to Return for NXT Deadline After Injury Setback – Sol Ruca has shared an optimistic update about her recovery, revealing that she hopes to be medically cleared in time for NXT Deadline on December 6 in San Antonio, Texas.
Ruca appeared on last week’s episode of NXT with her leg in a brace, confirming that she would not be cleared to compete at Halloween Havoc. As a result, her tag team partner Zaria defended Ruca’s NXT Women’s North American Championship on her behalf, ultimately losing the title to Blake Monroe.
Despite her absence, Ruca remains a key figure in NXT’s plans heading into Deadline. On Tuesday, she took to Instagram to express her determination to make the show, posting highlights from her appearance in last year’s Iron Survivor Challenge at the same event. Her caption read:
“Throwback to one of my fav matches
I may not be cleared just yet but I’m doing everything in my power to be at NXT Deadline.
Dec. 6th San Antonio TX be there or be ⬛”
Interestingly, Ruca is also featured on the official promotional poster for NXT Deadline, which adds to speculation that she could return in time for the event.
However, there is still some uncertainty surrounding the nature of her injury. During last week’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer discussed whether Ruca’s condition might be part of a storyline rather than a legitimate injury.
“Maybe she’s got a serious injury, I don’t know. But I watched this segment and I didn’t buy it,” Alvarez said. Meltzer agreed, adding, “I wasn’t that convinced either. It felt way too storyline.”
If Ruca is cleared in time, it’s possible she could return in a major way at NXT Deadline, potentially competing in another Iron Survivor Challenge or confronting the current champion.
