Kota Ibushi May Have Suffered a Broken Femur – As noted, Kota Ibushi suffered an injury during Wednesday night’s AEW Collision tapings at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida.
While AEW has yet to release an official statement, several backstage sources believe Ibushi may have suffered a broken femur. The injury reportedly occurred during a singles match between Ibushi and Josh Alexander. Witnesses said Ibushi lost his footing on the top turnbuckle and fell hard to the floor, with his leg visibly buckling upon impact. The referee quickly called off the bout via count-out as medical personnel and ringside officials rushed to assist him.
In an unexpected moment following the incident, former AEW star Mark Davis made his surprise return to the company. Davis, who had been sidelined since early 2025, confronted Alexander and appeared to align with him. However, the alliance didn’t last long, as Kenny Omega stormed the ring to chase Davis away, earning a strong reaction from the Jacksonville crowd. According to reports, the segment may need to be re-edited or adjusted before it airs on television due to the severity of Ibushi’s injury.
After receiving medical attention for several minutes, Ibushi was stretchered out of the arena to an ovation from fans in attendance. AEW President Tony Khan then appeared on stage to speak directly to the audience, thanking them for their patience and understanding. Khan reminded fans that injuries are an unfortunate part of wrestling and encouraged a supportive chant for Ibushi as he was taken backstage.
The 42-year-old’s condition remains unconfirmed as of this writing, and AEW has not yet provided further updates.
