The moment came after Becky Lynch once again slapped CM Punk during a heated confrontation. Punk refused to retaliate, instead introducing his wife, who charged to the ring and unloaded on Lynch. AJ capped off her attack by slapping the Women’s Intercontinental Champion, forcing Lynch to retreat up the aisle with Seth Rollins by her side.
The emotional closing scene saw AJ and Punk embrace in the ring to the roar of the Chicago crowd. After the broadcast went off the air, AJ continued to celebrate, skipping around the ring while holding Lynch’s championship belt. She then climbed the turnbuckle, proudly posing with the title as Punk looked on with a smile from ringside.
The celebration extended beyond the arena. WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H shared a video on social media of AJ officially putting pen to paper, confirming her return to the company. “Ink to paper… the calm before the storm,” he wrote, teasing what’s next for the former Divas Champion. He also shared a photo standing alongside AJ and Punk backstage after the show, marking the start of this new chapter in Lee’s WWE career.
With AJ Lee back on WWE television, speculation is already mounting about her in-ring future and her involvement in the Punk–Rollins and Lynch storyline heading into the fall.
