Plans for ROH Women’s Title Match at AEW All In: Texas – A high-profile title bout is reportedly planned for AEW All In: Texas, with ROH Women’s World Champion Athena expected to defend her title against former AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa. Though not officially announced, the match has been heavily teased through ongoing storyline developments on AEW programming.
The rumored showdown gained further traction following this past week’s episode of AEW Collision, where Athena’s team emerged victorious in an eight-woman tag team match against a team led by Rosa. The result continued to build the tension between the two veterans, who have been on a slow-burning collision course in recent weeks.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer confirmed that the match is indeed the direction AEW is heading for the stadium event, set to take place at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas on July 12.
“That is the plan. Yeah,” Meltzer stated. “I don’t know that it’s been announced… it’s been that one’s been pretty clear for a couple of weeks.”
If made official, the match would mark one of the most significant defenses of Athena’s reign. The champion has held the ROH Women’s World Title for more than 560 days, building a dominant legacy that has included numerous successful defenses across ROH and AEW platforms. A clash with Rosa, a former AEW Women’s World Champion and one of the division’s most respected competitors, would be a major test and a marquee attraction for the card.
AEW All In: Texas will be the company’s first U.S.-based stadium show under the All In branding, and the addition of a match between Athena and Thunder Rosa would further solidify the event as one of AEW’s most ambitious cards to date.
