JC Mateo Suffers First Loss Amid Bloodline Turmoil

JC Mateo Suffers First Loss Amid Bloodline Turmoil – The June 6th episode of WWE SmackDown delivered a major turning point in the ongoing power struggle between Seth Rollins’ new faction and The Bloodline, culminating in JC Mateo’s first defeat since his WWE debut. Mateo, formerly known as Jeff Cobb, suffered the pinfall loss at the hands of Jimmy Uso in a match that came on the heels of a highly personal and tense in-ring confrontation involving all major players.

The show opened with a standoff between The Bloodline—led by Solo Sikoa and accompanied by Jacob Fatu and JC Mateo—and the emerging faction spearheaded by Seth Rollins. Rollins, joined by Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, and Paul Heyman, walked into the ring to a loud ovation, only to be met by a chorus of “Roman” chants from the crowd. Seizing the moment, Rollins addressed the elephant in the room: Roman Reigns’ prolonged absence.

Rollins declared, “I don’t think he can hear you… because he’s on the Island of Irrelevancy, where they put him after WrestleMania.” He said the power and control he now holds extends to SmackDown as well and issued a clear warning: “Anyone who stands in our way will suffer the same fate as everyone who already has.”

He then listed names—“Sami Zayn stood in our way… he’s in the dirt. CM Punk? Poof—gone. Roman Reigns? Missing in action. He’s not coming to save you. He’s never cared about you. But do you know who has? Seth Rollins.” Rollins said he would drag everyone into the future—even if it meant kicking and screaming—because that’s what he does, not for himself, but for the industry as a whole.

Solo Sikoa interrupted, walking to the ring with Mateo and Fatu in tow. Standing face-to-face, Solo told Rollins: “You said if anyone gets in your way, you’re gonna lay them out.” Rollins simply replied, “I did.” Solo followed up: “You said there’s no one here to stop you.” Rollins, unfazed, answered, “I did.” Solo then gestured to himself and his crew, saying: “Well, we’re standing here right now.”

Solo mocked Rollins’ group, pointing to Bron Breakker and asking if he was supposed to be Jey Uso, and then looking at Reed and asking if he was filling in for Sami Zayn. Solo added, “After everything we’ve been through? We went to war at WarGames. And now you show up with this guy?” He turned to Paul Heyman, saying, “Long time, no see.”

Rollins fired back, telling Solo to “choose your next words very carefully.” Solo cut to the point: “Tomorrow, I’m climbing the ladder and grabbing that contract. All the power, all the control—it’s gonna be mine.” Rollins taunted Solo further: “You feel threatened, don’t you? Threatened because Bron is the future of this industry, and you’re not. Threatened because Bronson Reed could squash you like a bug. You should really be worried that your own family would rather stab you in the back than have your back.”

Turning to Fatu, Rollins smirked and said, “Looks like you wanna say something.” Solo snapped, telling Seth to “shut up, because what you’re trying to do won’t work.” Rollins quipped, “We could always call Fatu a new name—Solo’s bitch.”

As the tension escalated, Solo and Seth removed their jackets, squaring up. Bron stepped between them, diffusing the immediate threat, but it was clear war was brewing. Seth moved toward Fatu, staring him down and taunting, “You look like you’ve got something to say.” That’s when Jimmy Uso struck—ambushing JC Mateo from behind to ignite a surprise match.

The ensuing bout was physical and high-impact. Mateo controlled much of the action, using his power to overwhelm Uso. He delivered an exploder suplex, a running hip attack in the corner, and a vicious spinning back suplex. He even took time to mock Fatu from inside the ring, showing signs of arrogance and building internal tension within The Bloodline.

Despite Mateo’s dominance, the tide shifted late in the match. Solo Sikoa tried to distract the referee, prompting Fatu to jump on the apron as well. Mateo attempted to capitalize, aiming to hit Uso from behind, but Jimmy moved at the last second—causing Mateo to inadvertently nail Fatu instead. Jimmy then rolled up Mateo for the three-count, handing him his first loss since joining WWE.

After the bell, Mateo immediately confronted Fatu, visibly frustrated. Fatu walked away without a word. Mateo turned to Solo and, in no uncertain terms, said: “Fatu is the problem.”

This post-match fallout suggests mounting fractures within The Bloodline, which has been unstable since Roman Reigns’ departure. With Mateo’s aura of invincibility now broken and internal discord growing, The Bloodline may be headed for a full implosion.
