Goldberg Set for Multiple Appearances Ahead of Retirement Match – WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg is scheduled to appear live on tonight’s Monday Night RAW as he continues the buildup to what is being promoted as his retirement match against World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER. The appearance follows last week’s surprise return, where Goldberg confronted the reigning champion and declared his intent to pursue one final title run before stepping away from in-ring competition.
According to PWInsider, tonight’s segment is part of a carefully mapped schedule that will see Goldberg featured prominently on WWE programming leading into the Saturday Night’s Main Event premium live event on July 12. The report also clarifies that Goldberg is expected to appear on every edition of RAW leading up to the PLE—with the exception of next week’s show, which takes place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The feud with GUNTHER marks the final chapter of Goldberg’s career and is being treated as a marquee storyline heading into the July event. GUNTHER, who has held the World Heavyweight Championship since dethroning Seth Rollins earlier this year, is widely viewed as one of WWE’s most dominant modern champions. His clash with Goldberg presents a generational showdown between the legendary powerhouse and the Austrian Ring General.
Goldberg is expected to directly address GUNTHER during tonight’s broadcast, further setting the stage for their anticipated clash. Whether this will include a physical confrontation or remain a verbal exchange remains to be seen, but WWE is clearly positioning this match as a major attraction.
Fans can expect tonight’s RAW from Wichita, Kansas, to also feature the semifinals of the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments, Becky Lynch defending the Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Bayley, and Bron Breakker vs. Penta.
