6/16 WWE RAW Viewership Drops Due to NBA Finals Competition – The June 16 episode of WWE RAW experienced a drop in viewership, according to Netflix’s official Tudum metrics, largely due to stiff competition from Game 5 of the NBA Finals.
RAW drew 2.7 million global views and logged 5.0 million global hours viewed during its first seven days on Netflix. This marked a decrease from the June 9 episode, which garnered 2.9 million views and 6.1 million hours viewed. One factor in the comparison is the runtime difference: the June 16 episode ran for 1 hour and 47 minutes, while the June 9 broadcast was listed at 2 hours and 3 minutes.
Despite the decline, RAW held strong in international rankings, landing in the Netflix Top 10 in seven countries, including the United States, Canada, Mexico, the UK, and Australia.
The broadcast aired opposite Game 5 of the NBA Finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Indiana Pacers, which pulled in a massive 9.54 million viewers on ABC. The clash with such a widely watched sports event was a likely contributor to RAW’s dip in numbers.
The June 16 episode carried major storyline developments, including the final first-round matches in the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments. It also featured the surprise return of WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg, who confronted World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER, officially setting up a retirement bout for WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12.
On YouTube, the show’s clips continued to perform well, with Goldberg’s challenge to GUNTHER topping the list at 1.7 million views. Other top segments included:
- Cody Rhodes stops Seth Rollins’ attack on Jey Uso (1.1M views)
- LA Knight helps Jey Uso advance in KOTR (848K views)
- AJ Styles defeats JD McDonagh, steals Dom’s title (816K views)
- IYO SKY knocks Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio out of the ring (664K views)
RAW will look to rebound in next week’s ratings with more tournament semifinal action and a continued build to Night of Champions on June 28.
