Montez Ford Frustrated with WWE’s ‘Stop-And-Go’ Booking of The Street Profits – The Street Profits’ Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins have enjoyed significant success in WWE. However, the duo’s momentum has waned in recent years, and the lack of a sustained push has led to frustration from fans—and now, publicly, from Montez Ford himself. Despite strong runs in both NXT and on WWE’s main roster, it has been nearly four years since the Street Profits last held championship gold, a gap that’s left many questioning WWE’s long-term plans for the popular tag team.
For much of the past year, the Street Profits were aligned with Bobby Lashley, a pairing that seemed poised to rejuvenate their standing within WWE. However, Lashley’s recent departure from the company marked an end to this alliance, leaving Ford and Dawkins back in a somewhat uncertain position.
In a recent interview with Daily Mail, Ford shared candidly about his experience in WWE, acknowledging that while he’s grateful to work in a job he loves, the current booking of the Street Profits can be frustrating.
“For me to sit here and go like, how’s it going, that it’s good, that’d be a lie,” Ford said. “There’s always pleasure in doing what you love, what you admire, what you have dreamt of, what you have goals in and passion for, but it does get to that sense of frustration where anything you try to accomplish in life, where you may feel like it’s either taking too long, or it’s been too long, or nothing’s happening.”
“I’m not going to lie and say I don’t sit here and watch all the comments and everything. I watch everything. We’re not in conversations when it comes to top tag teams. We’re not in conversations when it comes to anything wrestling-related besides the fact of getting handled by The Bloodline, and that doesn’t sit well with me. So as well as is it is going in terms of being my dream job, it is enjoying as it is frustrating.”
Ford noted that they try to make the best of whatever creative opportunities are presented to them. A case in point was the alliance with Lashley, as they felt it was a new chapter for them.
“All these things are running, we have a WrestleMania win, and then boom, it just stops. And it’s been this constant stop and go and stop and go and stop and go with the Profits where we’ll get momentum and then the momentum will stop, then momentum will start again, and the momentum will stop. And for us, that’s frustrating, because it’s hard to get behind a team whose momentum starts and then it shifts again.”
Ford closed by noting that it might be time for a new era for him and get rid of people, or it could be a change in mindset. For years, there have been people in WWE pushing for Ford to be a singles star, while Ford has stayed loyal to Dawkins and stuck it out as a tag team.
