Reason Behind Changes To The Announce Teams – As noted, WWE made significant changes to the announce teams for both Raw and SmackDown, set to take effect starting on Raw.
For Raw, Michael Cole and Wade Barrett will now serve as the commentators. Michael Cole will continue his role on SmackDown while being joined by Kevin Patrick and Corey Graves, starting from August 11th.
Before the switch, Kevin Patrick and Corey Graves had been the announce team for Raw.
According to reports from Pwinsider Elite, Endeavor and the broadcast partners urged WWE to appoint Michael Cole as the primary lead announcer for the product. As the most experienced announcer in the company, Cole’s expertise was seen as a valuable asset.
The report further stated that WWE has confidence in both Cole and Graves, believing that they can assist Kevin Patrick, whom the company still holds in high regard. The decision to make this change was not intended as a demotion for Patrick but rather an opportunity for him to gain more experience and develop the desired voice and vibe for WWE’s lead announcers.
As for Raw, the decision to keep Michael Cole and Wade Barrett together as the announce team was primarily due to their excellent on-screen chemistry, which has been well-received by fans and management alike.
These changes in the announce teams are expected to bring a fresh dynamic to WWE programming, and fans will be eager to see how the new lineups contribute to the overall viewing experience.
