WWE Has No Plans to Bring Andrade Back Despite Rumors of a Possible Return

WWE Has No Plans to Bring Andrade Back Despite Rumors of a Possible Return – Despite weeks of speculation suggesting Andrade could be on his way back to WWE, new reports indicate the company currently has no interest in rehiring him. The rumor gained traction after talk surfaced that WWE might be leveraging his non-compete clause to negotiate a return, but multiple internal sources have now denied that claim.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that people within WWE have dismissed the notion of Andrade being discussed for a comeback. “For what this is worth, according to those in WWE, the rumors from last week that WWE is looking to now bring him back aren’t true,” Meltzer wrote. “One person near the top who would likely know (although there are lots of secrets) said that he had never heard the name discussed. Another who would have to know said the story wasn’t true.”

Meltzer added a caveat, noting that WWE is known for keeping major surprises under wraps but questioned whether Andrade’s situation falls into that category. “Keep in mind WWE is known for keeping some things that are big secret, but I don’t know if Andrade coming back qualifies in the category of the Rollins fake injury or the Lesnar return or the Cena heel turn or the Punk return,” he stated.

This latest update directly contradicts earlier speculation from PWInsider, which reported that certain lucha circles believed WWE was using the threat of a one-year non-compete clause to lure Andrade back. That report claimed, “There is a belief in some lucha circles that WWE is trying to use the leverage of the potential one-year no compete as a way to bring Andrade back into the fold,” though no WWE officials would confirm it.

Andrade’s situation has been complicated since his recent release. He made a surprise return to AEW on October 1, aligning himself with the Don Callis Family, and later wrestled in Mexico. However, WWE reportedly sent a legal notice claiming he was still bound by a non-compete clause, resulting in his AEW return being scrubbed from television.

The reported non-compete period could last up to a year, potentially tied to TKO’s updated contract structure for talent terminated “for cause.” The dispute has already affected his independent bookings — Andrade was removed from a Mucha Lucha Atlanta event on October 25 and pulled from an advertised WWC appearance in Puerto Rico.

As of October 31, Andrade is still listed for several independent shows, including a House of Glory event in Long Island, New York, on November 15. Whether he’ll be allowed to compete remains uncertain as his legal dispute with WWE continues.
