WWE’s relationship with AAA is already set to feature Roman Reigns in a major title defense, but he may not be the only champion looking south. Fresh off winning the Interim WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam, Chelsea Green says she has already taken steps to bring her new title to Mexico.
Green’s comments come at a time when WWE and AAA are deepening their collaboration, with Reigns scheduled to defend the World Heavyweight Championship on the September 14 episode of RAW in Mexico City against the winner of a cross‑brand tournament featuring stars from RAW, SmackDown and AAA. If Green’s request is approved, another WWE championship could join the crossover.
Green Says She Has Already Asked to Bring the Title to AAA
Speaking with Complex Graps, Green revealed that she wasted no time reaching out about the possibility of appearing in AAA with the Interim WWE Women’s Championship.
“I already sent my text message asking to bring this title to AAA. Last night, I did it.”
Green explained that her interest in working in Mexico isn’t new. She pointed to her Lucha Underground match against Penta as a key moment in her career that continues to resonate with fans years later.
“At least once a month, it goes viral to a certain group of people, and I get tagged in it. I always repost it because it’s such a flex.”
She said the match serves as a reminder that she can do far more in the ring than her current character might suggest.
“It reminds people that I’m choosing to be the version of Chelsea Green that I want to be right now. We can all do those things. I don’t have fear. I’m choosing to be this character right now.”
Green noted that the bout remains a frequent topic during fan interactions, estimating that around 40 of the roughly 200 people she met during her SummerSlam meet‑and‑greet mentioned it.
Lucha Libre Connection Resurfaces Amid WWE–AAA Partnership
Green believes WWE’s growing relationship with AAA has helped renew interest in her lucha libre history. She pointed to Ethan Page’s involvement with AAA and the broader crossover as reasons her past work in Mexico has resurfaced.
“Not only that, but we have AAA, and there’s the crossover between myself and Ethan Page going there. All these things that connect a simple white girl to Mexican culture and luchadors—it has blown up again.”
She praised Mexico’s wrestling scene and the way fans embraced her during her time there.
“There’s nothing better than Mexican wrestling. Being in Mexico, the fans, the culture and the lineage—it’s very unique and very special to be in Mexico and feel that.”
Green added that the Mexican audience accepted her immediately, even when her character leaned heavily into trash‑talk.
“The people in Mexico accepted me for all the junk I was saying. They accepted me, and they stood by me from day one. The minute I got to AAA, they were so cool.”
Her comments arrive during a landmark period for WWE and AAA. With Reigns already confirmed for a major title defense in Mexico City, Green’s push to bring the Interim WWE Women’s Championship to AAA suggests this partnership could soon feature more than one WWE championship on the line.
