Jim Ross Shares Health Update, Undergoes Neurological Testing

Wrestling legend Jim Ross has provided a candid update on his health, revealing that he is currently undergoing neurological testing related to dementia and Alzheimer’s screening.

Speaking on the latest episode of Grilling JR, Ross detailed a recent appointment with a neurologist where doctors conducted blood work and additional evaluations as part of a broader assessment.

“I had a very positive doctor’s appointment with my neurologist,” Ross said. “They took a bunch of blood and ran some tests. I think they’re worried about me losing my dementia or Alzheimer’s, and I said, what the hell you gonna do about it? There’s not a cure, you know. If there’s meds I could be taking preventively, tell me what they are, and I’ll do it.”

Despite the nature of the testing, Ross emphasized that he currently feels well physically.

“But we’ll see how it works out. I’m going through a lot of tests now, and I don’t feel bad at all. I feel great, actually.”

Ongoing Health Journey

Ross, 74, has dealt with a number of health challenges in recent years, including blood clots, vertigo, neuropathy, and sleep apnea. In 2025, he also underwent surgery for skin cancer. His openness about these issues has been a consistent theme, as he continues to work while managing the realities of aging.

He spoke frankly about that process during the podcast.

“Somebody getting old is a bitch. It’s a bitch.”

Finding Joy In Fan Connection

Even as he navigates health concerns, Ross highlighted the positive moments that keep him motivated — including a recent meet-and-greet appearance in Detroit alongside longtime broadcast partner Jerry Lawler.

Ross described the weekend as one of the most memorable of his current run, noting it was the largest turnout the pair has ever had together.

“Weekends like last weekend in Detroit make it all worthwhile,” Ross said. “Seeing so many fans with their T-shirts and their signs… it was just good, man. It was so diverse and fun to shoot the breeze with.”

Still Active In AEW

Ross remains a key voice in All Elite Wrestling, continuing to contribute to Dynamite broadcasts and major events. He is also scheduled to be part of the commentary team for AEW Double or Nothing this Sunday.

While the results of his recent neurological tests are still pending, Ross’ update reflects both the uncertainty and resilience that have defined this stage of his life and career.
