Paige Reportedly Signs With WWE, Set for Return Match at WrestleMania 42

Paige has reportedly re-signed with WWE and is expected to return to the ring at WrestleMania 42 this weekend, marking a major comeback after years away from in-ring competition.

According to PWInsider, Paige is slated to compete in the Women’s Tag Team Championship Fatal Four-Way match on WrestleMania 42 Saturday. She is expected to replace Nikki Bella, who has not been cleared following an ankle injury sustained several weeks ago on SmackDown. The report adds that WWE quietly brought Paige to Las Vegas, where she has already taken part in a run-through for the match.

The potential return is notable given that Paige was ruled medically unable to compete in January 2018 at just 25 years old. That decision followed a December 2017 incident during a match involving Sasha Banks at the Nassau Coliseum. After taking a kick to the back, Paige lost feeling in her extremities and the match was immediately stopped. Due to her prior neck issues, WWE removed her from in-ring competition.

At the time, Paige had already dealt with multiple challenges, including neck surgery and time away from WWE. She had returned to television as part of the Absolution faction alongside Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville, but her comeback was cut short by the injury.

Following her in-ring exit, Paige transitioned into a non-wrestling role as SmackDown General Manager. Her career was also highlighted in the film “Fighting with My Family,” produced by Dwayne Johnson and starring Florence Pugh as Paige.

After her WWE contract expired in June 2022, Paige signed with All Elite Wrestling and returned to the ring. She went on to win the AEW Women’s Championship from Hikaru Shida and remained active with the company until March 2025.

Now 33, Paige is reportedly set to compete again in WWE, seven years after being told her in-ring career was over. If confirmed, the return would mark one of the most significant comebacks in recent WWE history.
