Matt Cardona Pushes for Royal Rumble Spot – Matt Cardona is making it clear that he wants back into one of WWE’s biggest matches of the year. After recently re-signing with WWE earlier this month, Cardona took to social media to express his desire to be included in the 30-man Royal Rumble match, which is set to take place next weekend in Saudi Arabia.
With the Royal Rumble fast approaching, several major names have already declared for both the Men’s and Women’s matches. On the men’s side, Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, and Roman Reigns have all officially announced their entries. The women’s field continues to take shape as well, with Rhea Ripley, IYO SKY, and Judgment Day members Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, and Roxanne Perez confirmed for the match.
Cardona has not yet been announced as an official participant, but he reminded fans how long it has been since his last Royal Rumble appearance. Reflecting on that moment on X, Cardona pointed out that more than a decade has passed since he last competed in the match.
“The last time I was in a Royal Rumble match was 2015…over 10 years ago! I’ve had new gear ready every year…even for the 5 years I wasn’t even in WWE. I’ll be in Saudi Arabia next week…gear is packed…I’m ALWAYZ READY!” Cardona wrote.
The former Intercontinental Champion did not stop there, making his WrestleMania ambitions clear if he does receive a spot in the match.
“If I’m in it, I’ll do whatever I can to throw every opponent over the top rope and head to WrestleMania! 1 more championship to win…I’M NOT FINISHED!”
Cardona’s comments come after a recent setback on WWE television. On the January 24 episode of Saturday Night’s Main Event, he attempted to qualify for a number one contender four-way match for the Undisputed WWE Championship. However, his effort came up short, as he was defeated by Trick Williams.
Despite that loss, Cardona’s confidence remains high, and his public push for a Royal Rumble entry has added another layer of intrigue to the already stacked field. With WWE known for surprises at the Rumble, his presence in Saudi Arabia has not gone unnoticed.
