Madison Rayne Announces Retirement From In-Ring Competition – Veteran wrestler Madison Rayne has officially announced her retirement from active in-ring competition, bringing an emotional close to a career that spanned more than 20 years. The announcement was made during the latest episode of ROH TV, marking the final match of one of the most accomplished women of her generation.
Rayne’s final bout came in tag team action, where she teamed with ROH Women’s Pure Champion and longtime friend Deonna Purrazzo. The duo faced Billie Starkz and Diamante, but the match ended in defeat when Starkz pinned Rayne. It was the second straight loss Rayne suffered against the same pairing, and it proved to be the final chapter of her in-ring career.
Following the match, Rayne appeared in an emotional backstage segment where she confirmed that the night marked her final appearance as an active wrestler. Fighting back tears, she reflected on what the business has meant to her.
“This business is all I’ve known for 20 years,” Rayne said. “It’s brought me all over the world. It’s given me best friends that will last a lifetime. But tonight was exceptionally emotional because this is the end of an era for Madison Rayne.”
Rayne also opened up about the personal struggles that helped shape her decision, revealing that the loss of her father earlier this year had a profound impact on her life and career.
“I knew it was coming… but when I lost my dad earlier this year, I lost a piece of myself too,” Rayne explained. “But I’m refinding that purpose and that self back here, coaching, helping with the next generation. And that’s you. That’s this.”
Madison Rayne leaves behind a résumé that firmly establishes her as one of the most successful female wrestlers of her era. She is best known for her long tenure in TNA and Impact Wrestling, where she became a cornerstone of the Knockouts division. Rayne captured the Knockouts World Championship five times and was a central figure in The Beautiful People alongside Angelina Love and Velvet Sky, a faction that defined an era of women’s wrestling on television. She also held the Knockouts Tag Team Championship three times with different partners and was part of history as one-half of the inaugural SHIMMER Tag Team Champions with Nevaeh.
In August 2022, Rayne signed with All Elite Wrestling as a coach for the women’s division while continuing to wrestle. Her transition into a full-time backstage role now appears to be the natural next step in her journey.
Following the episode, Deonna Purrazzo paid tribute to Rayne on X, calling her career a blueprint for longevity and reinvention.
“Thank you @MadisonRayne. For believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself… I had the time of my life fighting dragons with you,” Purrazzo wrote.
Rayne closed the segment by embracing Purrazzo and delivering one final message.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better partner… to ride this wave out and end this era with you… it was the perfect way to end a 20-year ride.”
WrestlingAttitude.Com extends its congratulations to Madison Rayne on a remarkable career and wishes her continued success in her next chapter behind the scenes.
