WWE Website Accidentally Reveals Lola Vice’s Attacker at NXT No Mercy – WWE’s official website accidentally spoiled a key storyline from this past weekend’s NXT No Mercy premium live event. During the NXT Women’s Championship match between champion Jacy Jayne and challenger Lola Vice, a masked figure interfered, attacking Vice and allowing Jayne to retain her title. While the identity of the attacker was hidden during the broadcast, WWE.com briefly gave it away before quickly editing the article.
The initial recap of the match opened with the line, “Jacy Jayne retained the NXT Women’s Championship thanks to a shocking assist from Lainey Reid.” That sentence was later changed to the more neutral, “Jacy Jayne is still the NXT Women’s Champion, but not without some controversy.” By the time the correction was made, the spoiler had already spread online, confirming a new alliance in the NXT women’s division.
The storyline leading into No Mercy had Lainey Reid sidelined with a supposed injury that kept her out of a scheduled WWE Speed Women’s Championship match against Sol Ruca. Later in the night, Reid appeared in a walking boot and confronted Vice, further hinting that her injury was a ruse. The interference in the title bout now confirms that Reid has aligned herself with Jayne.
The match itself saw Vice nearly win the championship after a flurry of offense, but her pin attempt was interrupted when Jayne’s former stablemate Fallon Henley pulled the referee from the ring, resulting in Henley’s ejection. Moments later, the masked Reid struck Vice with a running knee at ringside, setting up Jayne’s Rolling Encore finisher for the victory.
Jayne’s faction, Fatal Influence, recently imploded after she and Henley ousted Jazmyn Nyx, who has since departed WWE. The fallout from this angle, including Reid’s official alliance with Jayne, is expected to be addressed on this week’s episode of NXT.
