AEW Considering More Early Start Time Pay-Per-Views – AEW may be moving toward making early afternoon pay-per-view start times a regular part of its schedule. During the AEW All Out 2025 post-event media scrum, company president Tony Khan addressed the possibility of continuing the recent trend of earlier showtimes, which has proven successful with fans in the United Kingdom.
AEW’s last three major events—All In, Forbidden Door, and All Out—have all aired in the afternoon on the U.S. East Coast. When asked about making the move permanent, Khan admitted that the strategy has delivered excellent results and is under serious consideration.
“It’s been tremendous for three straight pay-per-views. I think the point you’re making is definitely something I take into consideration,” Khan said. “And we’ve had great results, great buys from the UK, the TV ratings in the UK are through the roof. And I’m really glad you asked that because that’s absolutely one of the considerations we’ve thought about here. And whether it’s Saturday or Sunday, it’s definitely giving me something to think about.”
Khan also discussed the decision to open AEW All Out with a marquee tag team bout featuring FTR taking on Adam Copeland and Christian Cage, explaining that the early start allowed AEW to create urgency around the event.
“I thought it was a great way to start the show,” Khan said. “I also thought when you’re doing something special with a start time of 3:00 PM Eastern, noon Pacific, having a milestone and a match that you can set the time and say, look, that’s when this is going on. I think it created an urgency around the pay-per-view to put such an important historic match in that prominent position, if that makes sense.”
Khan’s comments indicate AEW is evaluating whether future pay-per-views, regardless of whether they fall on a Saturday or Sunday, could adopt similar early start times to better serve international audiences while maintaining strong domestic buys.
