The five-episode series finished the week ranked ninth globally, marking another successful WWE–Netflix collaboration.
The series offers an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look at WWE’s creative and production process, covering the period from the RAW on Netflix premiere on January 6 through to WrestleMania 41. WWE: Unreal pulls back the curtain with candid footage and interviews featuring top stars and creative minds, including Triple H, Michael Hayes, CM Punk, Rhea Ripley, and others.
Among the key stories featured are:
- Charlotte Flair’s return and build to WrestleMania
- CM Punk’s journey following his comeback
- John Cena’s heel turn, one of the year’s most talked-about storylines
- Access inside the WWE writers’ room, offering rare insight into the company’s storytelling process
Director Chris Weaver, known for his work with NFL Films, has been at the forefront of the series. In a recent interview with Fightful, Weaver expressed optimism for a potential second season, stating:
“We, me, NFL Films, we hope to keep going. Netflix does a really good job of evaluating reaction and feedback. They see that quickly and determine how they want to pursue. My hope is it’ll keep going. I hope it goes for a long time. It’s been a great change of pace for me. I love doing football, but this has been an absolute blast. I hope it keeps going and I hope there’s more for the wrestling world to tune into and talk about.”
While Netflix has not officially confirmed a second season, the solid performance of WWE: Unreal out of the gate signals strong interest from fans in more behind-the-scenes WWE content.
