Kyle Fletcher Wins AEW TNT Championship – Kyle Fletcher is the new AEW TNT Champion after a Brutal Chicago Street Fight against Dustin Rhodes on the July 31 episode of AEW Collision. Fletcher captured his first singles title in AEW by defeating Rhodes in a bout filled with blood, weapons, and vicious tactics.
The match kicked off with Rhodes immediately asserting control, leveling Fletcher with strikes before the action spilled to the outside. Fletcher introduced a kendo stick, but Rhodes turned the tide and used the weapon himself. Fletcher responded with a DDT on the steel steps and set up a table diagonally on the barricade. He attempted a dive, but Rhodes dodged, sending Fletcher crashing through the table.
Rhodes later tried to bulldog Fletcher through another table, but Fletcher reversed, sending Rhodes through it instead. After a commercial break, the chaos continued with both men using steel chairs. Fletcher landed a piledriver on Rhodes onto two chairs and later took a Canadian Destroyer through a table but managed to kick out.
Things escalated further when Rhodes pulled out a glove covered in thumbtacks and dug it into Fletcher’s head. After dumping tacks in the ring and hitting a powerslam on Fletcher into them, Rhodes poured more tacks down Fletcher’s tights and delivered the Shattered Dreams. Don Callis then intervened, handing Fletcher a screwdriver, which he used to repeatedly stab Rhodes in the head, eye, and leg.
Despite Rhodes’ desperate roll-up attempt, Fletcher kicked out and sealed the win with a brutal knee strike followed by a Brainbuster. Post-match, Fletcher targeted Rhodes’ leg, smashing it against the ring post and attacking it with a chair while officials rushed to aid the veteran. Rhodes was stretchered out as The Don Callis Family celebrated Fletcher’s championship victory.
This win marks Kyle Fletcher’s first reign as AEW TNT Champion. Since debuting in AEW in June 2022, Fletcher has primarily competed in tag team action alongside Mark Davis as Aussie Open. The duo previously held the ROH World Tag Team Titles and Fletcher also had a 196-day run with the ROH World Television Title. Dustin Rhodes’ reign ends after just 20 days.
